Remote Systems Administrator

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day administration of Windows Server and Linux systems across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
• Support and manage Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, conditional access policies, and Group Policy Objects
• Diagnose and resolve system outages, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure issues with a focus on minimizing downtime
• Build and maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity protocols
• Operate and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Hyper-V
• Provision, configure, and manage cloud resources across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform — including rightsizing and cost management
• Keep infrastructure secure through patch management, firmware updates, and system hardening aligned with company security standards
• Maintain core network services including DNS, DHCP, VPN access, and firewall rule management
• Document systems architecture, configurations, runbooks, and standard operating procedures to support team knowledge sharing
• Work cross-functionally with helpdesk, network, and cybersecurity teams on infrastructure initiatives and incident response
• Share on-call responsibilities and respond to critical incidents outside of business hours when needed

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a systems administrator, network administrator, or infrastructure engineer role
• Deep working knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, CentOS, or RHEL
• Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, Azure AD, and Group Policy
• Practical cloud experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP — including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling
• Background managing VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or comparable virtualization technologies
• Comfort writing automation scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline operations
• Solid networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configuration
• Industry certifications are a plus: CompTIA Server+, Azure Administrator (AZ-104), AWS SysOps Administrator, or RHCSA
• Excellent troubleshooting instincts, clear written communication, and thorough documentation habits
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities and work independently in a remote environment
