At the end of the engagement, you can extend the contract, convert the professional to your direct payroll (after 60-90 days), or conclude the assignment. We manage the transition in any direction.

Contract Staffing Questions & Answers

As the employer of record, Careerscape is the legal employer of the contract professional. We handle payroll, benefits, workers' comp, taxes, and compliance. You direct the work and manage day-to-day performance, but you're not responsible for employment administration. This eliminates co-employment risk and reduces your HR overhead.

After the contractor has been on assignment for 60-90 days, you have the option to hire them directly onto your payroll. A conversion fee applies, which is prorated based on how long the contractor has been on assignment. The longer they've been contracting, the lower the conversion fee. If you already know the role is permanent, our direct hire service may be a better fit.

We take performance seriously. If a contractor isn't meeting expectations, contact your account manager immediately. We'll work to resolve the issue and, if necessary, source a replacement. Our goal is to keep your project on track regardless of personnel changes.

Yes. Depending on the assignment length and hours, contract professionals may be eligible for benefits through Careerscape, including health insurance, dental, vision, and 401(k). We manage all benefits enrollment and administration.

Contract staffing is billed at an hourly or daily rate that includes the professional's pay, Careerscape's employer costs (payroll taxes, workers' comp, benefits), and a service margin. The all-in rate is agreed upon before the engagement starts.

Absolutely. Contract extensions are common and easy to arrange. Just let your account manager know before the current assignment ends, and we'll handle the paperwork and any compliance updates needed for the extended period.
